"Marmaduke" by Brad Anderson

Saturday January 14, 2006
The Funny Site of the Day -- At the veterinary clinic, I was sitting in the waiting room with my tabby cat and sidekick, Morty, when, what to our wandering eyes should appear, but a creature as immense as an antlerless reindeer.

"Oh, my gosh," said Morty, "'twis Marmaduke!"

I didn't know whether to be shocked at the overwhelming dog or the fact that Morty didn't append his standard: "man."

Seems like a cue from nature that we should check on "America's most beloved Great Dane," inciting barks and chuckles since 1954, as United Feature Syndicate boasts. "Marmaduke lives with the Winslow family who, try as they might, just can't seem to get him to obey. Despite his antics, Marmaduke is the fun-loving top dog in the neighborhood."

Hmmm, "Try as they might, just can't seem to get him to obey." That sounds like a certain Marmamorty I know.

Enjoy today's "Marmaduke" panel, as seen in hundreds of newspapers worldwide, plus the one-month archive of previous cartoons at Comics.com.

Yes Maraduke can sometimes “seem” not there, at a quick non observing glance, but to us dog owners, (This comic strip is kick butt:) I’ve realised that dog behavior- from mini to humungo size show all the traits of being human, yet no matter how hard they try and do.. The doggy nature still shows through, They are always trying to pull top dog, even with us owners. Much like kids who are always testing the rules, (to make sure we still love them.) Only with dogs there is the added top dog issue. Awesome,Mine are always keeping me on my toes. Organizational reality in animal, 4 legged, butt sniffing form.
