Comedy Movie Preview: American Dreamz

The Funny Site of the Day -- The pitch:

"Imagine a country where more people vote for a pop idol than their next president."

Universal presents a satirical comedy aimed at the current state of our political climate vs. the culture. Director Paul Weitz, of American Pie, About a Boy, and In Good Company -- all films I liked -- places the President of the United States into the country's obsession with a glitzy, empty calorie, TV talent show. Star Dennis Quaid bumbles as a certain *fictional* sitting Commander-in-Chief type and Hugh Grant is the certain Simon.

And the ever howl-tacular Willem Dafoe shaved his head to play the Vice President, see, to make you think he's, see, see, Dick Cheney! See? But he's not! See?

Hoo, boy. Looks as funny as today's headlines.

Also in the cast, Mandy Moore, Marcia Gay Harden, Chris Klein, and Jennifer Coolidge. Opens April 21.
