Rolled out as an April Fool's Day prank tool, MSN's Search Spoof is lots of fun anytime. What you do is select a predetermined profile of your target friend or customize more detailed information about him or her. MSN serves up an entire page of phony Internet search returns making sport of your pal, including nicely done gag annotations mentioning the mark. Next, forward the parody via email to share the surprise and the grins.
For demonstration purposes, I entered my name into the MSN Search Spoof form and provided personal data to sharpen the material. In seconds, a full page of *Web articles* appeared in the official MSN Search presentation.
Golly! I can't wait to read all about me! Here are some of the headlines:
- Mike Durrett triggers brawl at vegetarian cookout
- Dow Jones, NASDAQ plummet as "Cat Loving Mike" bogs down Internet with cat photos - again
- Bashful Mike Durrett looks for private change area ... to try on shoes
- Mike Durrett spends years in front of TV to form perfect "butt print" in couch
- Blockbuster negotiates exclusive deal to supply Mike Durrett's movie rentals, stock skyrockets

And the story I really want to read:
Short people: Mike Durrett falls into gopher hole and can't get out
Life for Mike Durrett changed suddenly last weekend when he fell into a gopher hole. "It was too deep for me to climb out, so I had to make the gophers believe I was one of them.." Luckily, the ruse worked, and Mike survived on worms for eleven days before an encounter with a lawn-mower led to his rescue.
